Mattress Mack is still riding high after his hometown Houston Astros won this season’s World Series title.

It helped Mack – a notorious sports bettor – also win big with his bets adding up to the largest payout in history totaling $75 million dollars.

Speaking to Fox Sports’ Ben Verlander on his ‘Flippin Bats’ show, Mack talked about the team, his payout, and what he wants to see in the future from the Astros.

Notorious Houston gambler Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale spoke more about his winnings

While sports betting hasn’t always been widely available, Mack began betting on the Astros back in 2017.

‘About the only place you could legally bet sports was [Las] Vegas, of course, or New Jersey, so I didn’t bet a futures bet like I did this year,’ Mack told Verlander.

‘I bet per game, per series. … I had to fly [around] and bet on the individual series, individual games, which was much more difficult than betting 10-1 on the Series back in June.’

This year, Mack said he placed multiple bets down at Caesars Sportsbook because they will take larger stakes.

‘I bet $1 million dollars to win $12 [million], and I bet $3 million to win $30 [million] at Caesars, and that got the ball rolling.,’ Mack explained.

‘Ended up with $75 million in legal bets … and almost all the money is going back to the customers.’

McIngvale has used his betting habit to help drive business to his furniture stores – promising free products if his bets hit.

Mack also opened up on the viral video of him hauling away some of his winnings in a wheelbarrow

‘That was a payout from MGM. … They paid $10 million dollars. … It looked cool wheeling that money to the plane, but the only problem was the money was so heavy that it popped the front tire!’

When asked about something Mack wants to see the Astros front office do this offseason, he told Ben Verlander that he wanted the team to re-sign his brother, the recently crowned AL Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander.

Above all else, Mack says the Astros as an organization work well with him and are a perfect representative of the growing and diverse community Houston has.

‘One thing about an Astros game, you go there [and] you see people of all races, all colors, all creeds and everybody’s wearing orange and blue. We forget about our divisiveness … and we all pull together for the Houston Astros. It’s a great community.
