Information that could lead to a new water sports facility being built within a short drive of the Watford area is among the planning applications submitted to Watford, Three Rivers, Hertsmere and Dacorum councils.

Three Rivers District Council has been consulted as a neighbouring authority by the London Borough of Hillingdon for a ‘scoping opinion’ for the proposed scheme in Moorhall Road, Harefield.

A ‘scoping opinion’ enables the applicants to ask the local authority for its view on what information needs to be included in an environmental impact assessment.

A supporting letter with the application states the plans are “emerging”, “although detailed planning permission is likely to be sought for the construction of buildings and structures to accommodate sailing/rowing facilities and outdoor activities centres adjacent to Broadwater Lake, including additional car parking, external boat storage and access within the site”.
